MURRAY COUNTRY FAMILIES

William A. Crawford

William A. Crawford was listed in District 872, Murray County, Georgia, in the Census of 1840. That Census indicated that he was free, white, male, and between the ages of 20 and 49. He was the only person living in his household.

Since this man was not listed on the 1834 State Census of Murray County, it appears that he came to Murray between 1834 and 1840.

Since one of the documents in the miliary records of a William Crawford, who enlisted as a Private in Company B, 3rd Battalion Infantry, on August 15, 1862, listed his home as Murray County, Georgia, this William A. Crawford from the 1840 Census seems the only possible match.

William Crawford Transferred to a different unit on May 6, 1863, when he became a member of Company A, 37th Georgia Infantry Regiment.

Military records indicate that he died at Atlanta, Georgia on September 2, 1863, but contain no further information regarding his death.
