MURRAY COUNTRY FAMILIES

Benjamin McAlister

Benjamin McAlister was born in Tennessee about 1835.

By 1850 the family had moved to Murray County, Georgia. The Census of 1850 listed the family as: Charles R., age 40; Deborah, age 40; Rachael, age 18; Benjamin L., age 15; Elisabeth A., age 12; Martin V.B., age 10; and Jane, age 8.

Confederate Army records indicate that Benjamin McAllister enlisted as a Private in Company B, 39th Ga. Cummings Volunteers on March 10, 1862. He died of disease at his home in Murray County on May 9, 1862.
