Carl Franklin Jones Family

Carl Franklin Jones was born October 16, 1881, the son of William Hudson Jones (1850 - 1927) and Laura Missouri (Freeman) Jones (1853 - 1920). He married Sarah Ellen Fortner (1881 - 1906)., daughter of James W Fortner and Mary (Bramblett) Fortner, on October 20, 1901.

Carl and Sarah Ellen had two children; Mary Wilma and Eugene. Sarah died in 1906. In the 1910 GA Murray Co. Census listed Carl, along with his two children, Wilma and Eugene living with Carl's parents.

Carl married Bertha Williams, daughter of Charles Jenkins Williams (1849 - 1920) and Aradner P. "Nettie"( Baynes) Williams (1859 - 1906). This couple had eight children: Ralph C.; Bertie; Irene; Jack; Gordon; Hill; Frank; and Inez Jones. Ralph was a Marine during World War II. He served in Italy, then France. Twice wounded, he died in France in 1945 and was buried in the U.S. Military Cemetery at Epinal, France. Bertie Irene Jones was born in 1917 and died in 1976. Inez Jones was born in 1934 and died in 1934.

The 1920 Census listed Carl's family living next door to his brother, William Henry's family. The Census listed their occupations as farmer.

Carl died October 15, 1936 and was buried in Spring Place Cemetery. Bertha died May 4, 1962, was buried in West Hill Cemetery, Dalton.
