JAMES BUCHANAN WAS PRESIDENT 1857-1861.

FIRST LADY
HARRIET LANE (President's niece).

Born Harriet Lane, she served as First Lady for her uncle, James Buchanan.

Several years later she married Henry Elliott Johnston.

She was First Lady from 1857 to 1861.
